Land at Finches Farm, Five Oak Green
Public Open Space
As part of our proposals for the land at Finches Farm, over half of the land would be informal public open space, situated in the northern and western parts of the site, incorporating the proposed flood attenuation measures.
Pedestrian and cycle paths would be provided across this open space, providing a new route from Capel Primary School across the site to the existing Public Right of Way that runs north from Five Oak Green Road up along the western boundary of the site towards the railway.
The site currently has limited ecological value and provides a range of opportunities for biodiversity enhancement. Our proposals will include provision for a minimum biodiversity net gain of 10% as required by emerging legislation, seeking to provide a substantial improvement on the current ecological value of the site through the following:
- Retention of the majority of the existing trees and hedgerows
- Retention of the watercourse running north-to-south through the centre of the site
- New tree, hedgerow and wildflower planting
- Wildlife-friendly sustainable urban drainage features
